Four Generous Mount Pleasant Patrol officers have  been praised for going above and beyond the call of duty.

A 79-year-old disabled Mount Pleasant, Tennessee man was left in disarray because his 36 year old caretaker, Tammy Brooks, stole his debit card. Without food for two days and no family nearby, he had no choice but to dial 911 for help. Patrolmen Brian Gray, Adam Runions, Nathan Bolton, Mark Billions, and Buddy Odom from the Mount Pleasant Police Department showed up with enough groceries to feed him for one month. They bought the groceries with their own money.  “I think he was shocked at the amount of food that we bought and just the fact that it was there without question” Bolton said

A picture of the officers stocking the man’s cabinets was posted on Facebook and the good deed was shared by many people.

The officers feel it is part of their duty to render assistance to the best of their ability.  “It’s difficult for us to see as police officers,” Billions. “We’re out here to take care of the public at large and that doesn’t always mean stopping a car. Sometimes it’s us doing little things like this.”

The elderly man who relies on his social security benefits and a fixed income, asked News 2 not to use his name. He expressed gratitude for what was done for him.

Brooks was arrested the 24 hours later after a surveillance camera caught her using his debit card in different stores. She was charged with fraudulent use of a debit card and theft and booked into the Maury County Jail.
