It wasn’t sex that led to Samson’s downfall. You might be questioning my perspective, but hear me out as I am going somewhere with my argument. While extramarital and pre-marital sex are discouraged, the true root of Samson’s downfall goes deeper.
Before Delilah’s betrayal, Samson had intimate relations with numerous partners in various cities, a pattern not uncommon even today. His decline was gradual, but there was one critical factor that ultimately led to his ruin.
Each of Samson’s missteps weakened him, paving the way for his ultimate downfall. Just as Eve shared the secret God entrusted to her and Adam with the serpent, Samson made a similar mistake. Thrones are upheld by secrets, kingdoms are safeguarded by mysteries, and destinies are shielded by codes. Eve’s divulgence of the garden’s secret to the serpent handed over the code of the garden to the enemy.
There are covenant secrets that must be fiercely guarded. God’s supremacy is shrouded in secrets; there are facets of His nature that remain veiled to us. Every nation has its secret service agency, and access to certain quarters requires initiation into their secrecy. Likewise, every destiny possesses a code of secrecy essential for its success.
Joseph erred when he disclosed more to his brothers than was prudent at the time. It’s crucial to exercise discretion—to refrain from divulging everything to everyone. Some revelations are meant for our ears alone. The damage inflicted upon Samson when he exposed his sacred covenant secret was irreparable.
Your covenant with God should remain a closely guarded secret. Protect your spiritual access to divine mysteries with vigilance. Dwelling in the secret place of God necessitates initiation into divine secrecy. When Paul ascended to the third heaven, he encountered truths too sacred to utter. If your lips are loose, you disqualify yourself. Keep your divine revelations close to your heart, sparing yourself the agony of betrayal.
