Elon Musk’s estranged transgender daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, recently announced her decision to leave the U.S. following Donald Trump’s re-election. Vivian, 20, the daughter of Musk and his first wife, Justine Wilson, has previously criticized her father for being unsupportive during her transition.
Vivian shared her plans on Threads, stating, “I’ve been thinking about this for a while, but yesterday made it clear. I don’t see my future in the United States.”
Her concerns stem from fears that Trump’s supporters and anti-trans sentiments may persist long after his term. “Even if he’s only in office for 4 years, even if anti-trans regulations don’t happen, the people who voted for this aren’t going anywhere,” she added.

In 2022, Vivian legally changed her name and gender to align with her identity and distance herself from Musk. At the time, Musk commented that his daughter had been “killed by the woke mind virus” and “tricked” into approving therapies for her transition.
Shortly after, in her first interview, Vivian responded, calling Musk an absent, “uncaring and narcissistic” father. She told her Threads followers that he “made up” stories about her to support his transphobic views. “He doesn’t know what I was like as a child because he simply wasn’t there,” she wrote.
Now, with Trump’s re-election and Musk’s endorsement of him, Vivian feels that leaving the U.S. is her next step in distancing herself from her father’s influence.
