[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Bible School Gordon Lindsay had been led to establish was in the 4th year when his busy life was ended by a sudden heart attack during a service. CFN’s 10-man Board replaced him by his wife, a challenging request for an overloaded lady in shock and grief. But Freda’s faith, strength and wisdom, as always, brought her through. Always a devoted co-worker, she found her own place as the guardian of his legacy, as well as an energetic administrator, world-traveler, speaker, and woman of God, whose labors, and visions, and accomplishments have set a record, no doubt.
A prominent local citizen, Dr. Freda Lindsay, recently marked her94th birthday on April 18, 2008 as a good time to resign and retire from her long, global-spanning assignment, which has affected thousands of lives … and “used up” hers – on purpose – (God’s purpose!)
It was in 1952 that Rev. Gordon and Freda Lindsay and their three children moved here from Shreveport, La. to get settled in a city where the upcoming heavy publishing and world travel would be easily accessible. Dallas, TX, also known as “BIG D” was the place!
Their first business location, Bonnie View Road, was outgrown in a few productive years and the offices, huge printing facilities, etc. were moved to Kiest Blvd., one block west of I-35, where since 1970 over 30,000 students have filled Christ For The Nations Institutes’s campus, several hundred at a time from August to May … plus the summer loads of youth now, drawing 5,000 tots-to-teens to enjoy their week of fun, friends, food, Bible stories, games and plays, taught by CFNI alumni and students-in-training…(I’m hearing as I write!)

Born in a sod house in Saskatchewan, Canada, Freda was the 9th of 12 children in the family o f a couple (Gottfried and Kaity Schimpf, members of German families in Russia, who succeeded in moving to this part of the world!)
Born to destiny? “For sure!” her children would answer, plus thousands who have called her “Mom”, regardless of their own language. A daughter and two sons following their parents’ example.
Daughter – obedient to a call to Israel, now there almost 40 years’
Son, Gilbert – still publishing the Bibles and books in foreign languages in a former communist printing plant in Russia
Son, Dennis – President of CFN, assisted by wife and son and daughter, opening soon the school’s new CREATIONISM Extension.
Yes, our “young determined German” (no longer young but forever credited with changing her world and training “World-Changers: Just the experience of reading her books is effective. Reader-response to Freda’s double-page spread in our monthly magazine always said “I turn to Freda’s page first.”
