    Don’t Give Up on Tomorrow

I love good music. There is something about a beautiful song that can reach places in the heart that ordinary words sometimes cannot. A good song can remind us of who we are, give us courage when we are weak, and help us see hope when everything around us seems uncertain.

One of my favourite songs is Something Good Is Coming by Dusty. The message of the song is simple but powerful: even when things do not go the way we want today, we should not give up hope because something good may still be waiting for us tomorrow.

Sometimes, life does not follow our plans. We make our decisions, set our goals and pray for certain outcomes, only to discover that things have taken a completely different direction.

But a bad day is not necessarily a bad life. A disappointing season is not the end of the story.

Sometimes, what looks like a setback today is only preparing us for something better tomorrow. That is why we must keep believing that something good is coming.

    Tomorrow Is Pregnant

There is an African proverb that says, “Tomorrow is pregnant.”  It is one of those simple expressions that carries a deep meaning.

When a woman is pregnant, nobody knows exactly what the child will look like or what the future holds for that child. We can make predictions, but only time will reveal what is inside the womb.

The same is true of tomorrow. We do not know what tomorrow carries.

Many do not know which opportunity may come our way. We do not know which person we may meet. We do not know which door may open or which unexpected blessing may change our lives.

Today may be difficult, but tomorrow is still unwritten. Presently there may be tears, but tomorrow may bring laughter.

There may be rejection today, but tomorrow may bring acceptance. If there is failure today, tomorrow may bring another opportunity to try again.

So, when life becomes difficult, we should not allow today’s circumstances to convince us that tomorrow will be the same.

Tomorrow is pregnant, and because we do not know what it carries, we should always leave room for hope.

    The Story Behind Dusty

Another song by Dusty that carries a powerful message is Dusty.

The story behind the song is deeply emotional. Soul-blues artist Dusty Rivers was on a long drive from Sydney to Adelaide, rushing to the hospital because his mother was critically ill. He feared that he might be travelling to the hospital to say goodbye to someone he loved deeply.

Imagine the emotions that must have filled that journey.

The long road, uncertainty, fear, memories and the possibility of losing someone precious.

Sometimes, it is only when we are faced with the possibility of losing something that we truly understand its value.

That long journey made Rivers reflect on life, family and the things that matter most.

    Thankfully, his mother survived.

But the experience left a permanent mark on him and became the inspiration for the deeply emotional song Dusty.

The song reminds us of something many of us forget in the busyness of everyday life: the people we love are more important than many of the things we spend our lives chasing.

    Keep Going

Life is not always about getting what we want when we want it. Sometimes, it is about learning to trust the journey.

The road may be dusty, and the journey may be long.

There may be moments when you are tired and unsure of where the road is taking you.

    But keep going.

You may not know what tomorrow holds, but that does not mean tomorrow holds nothing good.

The African proverb says, “Tomorrow is pregnant.”

So, do not bury your hope because of today’s disappointment.

Do not allow one failure to define your future, and don’t let one closed door convince you that there are no more doors to open.

And do not become so busy chasing tomorrow that you forget to appreciate the people you have today.

    Love deeply and live gratefully.
