Dear Mr. Jesus:
As your new friend, let me first say: Thank you. I’m showing my appreciation to you because, although I’m still young, I’m aware of what you did for me on the Cross of Calvary. My Sunday School teacher always makes us sing a song called “What a friend we have in Jesus.” I am excited that You accepted me as a friend and I can talk to you any time. I have some questions I’d like you to answer. I know you have many friends all over the world but please, I will love a reply from you to me. It will make my day.
Before I start asking questions, I need to report my mommy and daddy to you Sir. They say they love me, but for some reason, they haven’t given me everything I’ve asked for. Mommy is always making me eat my veggies and she knows how I feel about veggies, especially broccoli. I just want my chicken nuggets and fries instead but she never listens and dad supports her instead of me. Please, Jesus, I need You to speak to them. If they love me as they say, then they should grant my wishes including the latest play station I asked for.
Secondly, Mr. Jesus, there’s this bully in my class named Antonio. I want to fight this boy because he keeps calling me “cornbread head” and occasionally smacks me across the face for no reason whatsoever. I’ve had enough and I just want to catch him and punch him at least. How can he be so mean and get away with it so frequently? Why can’t he also feel the pain he is causing me? So please Jesus, can you grant me permission to teach him an unforgettable lesson? Can my revenge be as soon as tomorrow?
Dear Jesus, I have a secret to share with you. I like going to class but there is a reason why I thoroughly enjoy going to class. It is all because of a nice girl called Emily. I always look forward to seeing her in school. She is cute and keeps her hair beautifully done. I really like her. However, Sir, I think I need your help with telling her how I feel. I also think she likes Martin and not me. He always brings her lollipops and I watch her taking them from her. It makes me jealous. Is this a sin? Will she play with me if I brought my toys to school and asked her to join me in playing with them? What should I say to her? I think I’m shy. This is a secret Jesus, please don’t share it with anyone.
Meanwhile, Jesus, Easter is around the corner and it’s one of my favorite holidays. I love the amazing story about how they thought they killed you, but you came back on the third day and you are now seated next to God the Father. That’s such a boss move. I think we should make you a superhero – more powerful than Superman. I am already thinking of costumes that would fit your personality. I think we’ll call you “MR. JESUS” or JesusHero. What do you think? Which one sounds better?
Please, please, please Jesus, I’d love to hear from you as soon as possible since we are now friends. If you come around and I’m not there, you can leave a note under my pillow. I will keep checking it till I see something from you. I love You Jesus.
Your friend, Max.
