Remarkable 7 year-old Godwin Musa lives in a slum in Abuja city, Nigeria. His dream from time immemorial was to own a bicycle. His parents couldn’t afford one because of the dire poverty they live in. Giving up on owning a bicycle wasn’t an option for Godwin. He knew he had to make it happen some way, some how. The steps he took to realize his dream is nothing short of admirable. He took the path of letting his necessity for a bicycle drive him to invent his ‘own bicycle.’

Unlike many adults that groan, resent and end up giving up on a dream like this, Godwin improvised, constructed and built a custom bicycle using available scraps and plastics. His ingenuity and creativity without an education speaks volumes.
Godwin was discovered during a church’s recent evangelism and welfare visit to his area. When asked why he created his bicycle, he replied: “Since my father cannot afford a bicycle for me, I decided to make one myself. “
As soon as his story was posted online, it went viral. No sooner, someone bought him a brand new bicycle and promised to sponsor his education.

Today, Godwin is the proud owner of an actual bicycle and a possible scholarship.
It pays to be innovative.
