After a theme park ride in Oregon left at least 28 people hanging upside down for over 20 minutes, they are now recovering from the shock of the experience.
A statement from the park reports that on Friday at Portland’s Oaks Amusement Park, 28 passengers were riding the AtmosFEAR, which spins either 360 or 180 degrees, when the ride suddenly stopped around 2:55 p.m., leaving them suspended upside down in its “apex position.”
The AtmosFEAR ride operators immediately called 911 and began initiating emergency procedures.
First responders, including Portland Fire & Rescue, arrived on the scene around 3:20 p.m. Within minutes, all riders were safely taken off the ride and returned to the ground.
